My friend, D, posted a challenge on her blog, Prairie Papercrafts & Stamps, a few days ago, and I knew I'd have to partake in it! She gave two photos to draw inspiration from, but to be honest, that's not the way I went! I stayed with the colours though, and was going to go with flowers (for one of the pics) but found a really cute card that I wanted to CASE here! (gosh, I love BDub's style!)
The challenge was to create a papercraft project using Chocolate and Orange as the main colours. Yay! I love the colour orange and I like lots of orange foods (carrots, peaches, cheese, peppers, mandarines, etc) and I love love love Chocolate! What's not to enjoy about this challenge? Oh, except it isn't the colours I want to work with right now. Harumph. Chocolate and Orange don't scream to me "lets count down til spring"! LOL But I made it work! I'm good like that! So here you go, here is my contribution.
This uses the retired (*sob*) Haiku DSP, as well as a single stamp So Glad, which isn't in the latest IBAC but on the dormant list (so it can still be ordered from me! go ahead, I don't mind!). The card also uses Chocolate Chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, and Pumpkin Pie and Very Vanilla (b/c I didn't have any So Saffron ribbon b/c it's not available. *sob*) 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. Oh and a lovely silver brad. :)
This card makes me happy.

Abi told me what was happening in her classroom. She even named two of her classmates. On two separate occasions, with her own eyes, she saw it at lunchtime. It was neat. It was cool. And she liked it.
Then she asked me a piercing question. "Mom, why can't you do that for me?"
The challenge was out.
Of course, I couldn't do it right away. I didn't want to appear too eager. Or heaven forbid, have her think I was doing it just because she asked me to. It had to be real.
But I did it.
And today, in her lunch, was a (not so) secret banana message for her. Now she can be like the other two girls. Life is good!
Did you know that writing a message on a banana in pen is the Thing to Do these days? I wonder how my Hunny would feel if I sent a graffitti'd banana in his lunch? Abi did it as a nice surprise to Kai the other day, but at the end of school, he was all disgusted and asked why she had to write that she was "in love with" him on his banana? Apparently that is NOT the "thing to do" in grade One. Just grade Three. Good to know.
I'll make a note of that.

I was just starting to make dinner one day when Rhys came crawling into the kitchen. He's getting quite fast on those knees of his! The stool is beside me..it's a rather large stool and takes up a lot of room, but well, I'm not-quite-tall and it helps having it! I don't pay too much attention to Baby Honey as he's always on the go. However, this Go wasn't expected.

He is so proud of himself too! It surprised me though! He makes me smile. What a cutie!

So the Olders are back in school again. It was a bittersweet feeling. On one hand, I like having them home, but I wonder if it has more to do with my own selfishness. After all, having them home means I get to sleep in, that I don't have to go drive them to school or pick them up, or plan things around school hours, or make lunches! And having them home means they play with the Youngers and take care of them so that I can sleep in. (oh, did I say that already? *ahem*) So having them home is a bit more for my convenience then anything! But I also really love having the opportunities to create new family memories. Of course, being the typical family we are, oftentimes our days are "wasted" with regular playing of toys and watching movies and running around everywhere and less time on family together activities. But I'm working on it! Some blogs I read blow me away at how other families work!
I remember the first day back to school in 2009, it turned out to be a Snow Day and school was cancelled! Fun for the kids! Not so much so this year though. We haven't had snow in a few weeks. So sad. The night we did, I took advantage of it and created a Family Memory. (although I'm not too sure the kids will really remember it later in life, lol! It wasn't THAT amazing!)
I'm a Home Body and like to stay inside and read or write, so I'm usually the one to tell the kids to come inside if it's raining or snowing! But not this night! I thought I'd do differently! So the kids ran around trying to find all the snow pants and mittens (good thing I had just pulled them out a few days earlier in preparation for winter), attempted to stuff themselves into them, and ran out into the front yard! They were in such a hurry I think they were worried the snow would stop and suddenly disappear! Either that or they were concerned I'd have a change of heart and demand they all come back inside because it was so much work! Hard to say.
Did I mention this happened just before bed also? When they should've been scrambling to find their jammies and been fighting with me to stay up just a bit longer? Yeah. I'm a good mom like that. *smile*
It was all fun and games until the Olders decided it would be funny to throw snowballs at their nice, fun, sweet, loving, gentle, innocent Mom. The one who gave them birth.
It looks like he's gearing up for a quick wrist snap of a snowball at me, doesn't it?

One of the best things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is, not only being able to see some of the new sets beforehand, but also being able to do a pre-order sale! In December, I picked up a set from the up-coming Sale-A-Bration (SAB) that runs from Jan 5- March 31, 2010. Yes, you read that correctly! This baby runs for THREE months now! Can I get a woot! woot!
Don't know what the heck I'm talking about? Well, only the Biggest and Best sale that SU! holds annually. It usually runs during February and March, but this year it's included January so you can maximize your freebies! But not only that, SU has included other regular catalogue sets in for free!
The deal is that for every $65 you spend (from the regular IBAC---Idea Book & Catalogue---or the NEW Occasions Mini that is coming out on the 5th as well, or the Definitely Decorative catalogue---which contains our Decor Elements line and has a NEW insert coming out on the 5th also---or a combination of all three) you can pick one FREE Sale-A-Bration product of your choice! There are 4 exclusive stamp sets, one huge Designer Series Paper pack, and one border punch in our NEW fold-down design! (all of these are exclusive to SAB and will not be available after the sale ends...so if you like 'em, better get 'em!) PLUS, there are a good 70 stamp sets from the IBAC to choose from!
For my pre-order, I managed to snag the new set, Good Neighbours. It's an adorable set of houses and trees for 2-step stamping. So I have to pull out my Stamp-A-Majig. Oh goodness, this is a cause of consternation for me! I have yet to master this silly thing! I think I'd rather have my stamps crooked from my own doing than have then on a slant when they're not supposed to be b/c of my misuse of this tool!!! Despite that frustration, I managed to make these cute card fronts:
I mentioned they are Card Fronts...which means they aren't, well, obviously, full cards to be mailed out! Just the fronts! That is because I made them for an SAB Swap I am doing with some fellow demonstrators in my upline. Or was. I'm not too sure anymore. :( I made 10 of these cute things (which I am particularly fond of!) and don't know if the swap is taking place anymore. Phooey. Oh well. I guess I can always make them into full cards and use them myself. Aren't they great?

At the beginning of December, I had elluded to a possible "surprise" and change coming to our family. I thought it would be fun to tease and hold you all in excited suspense.
